I think that one creates oneself as one moves through one's life. The inevitable end point is death. I have created the 64 year old woman that I now am, just as I created my teenage self. But, and I think you may disagree, my creation (of self) was limited by the raw materials that also formed self, DNA etc. and also by the resources of my environment.
