Societal Contract

We agreed to it. Before we were born again, we agreed to live within societal laws and rules. After all we did create this world and we have to bear the consequences.

In every lifetime there are:

Rebels, who refuse to live within ridiculous laws and rules, which of course, we tend to admire, while resenting them for doing what we wish we could do.

Then you have the Believers, those who believe in nothing but those laws and rules and eventually don't understand why these very rules, rule against them.

Then you have the Dreamers, who dream of a better world, and try to add some beauty to it and of course as all dreamers do, end up sick. Because eventually they will stop dreaming and face reality. Which is not pretty at all.

Then you have the Wise ones. They know what they've signed up for. They know they were also responsible for creating these rules and accept that they have to live with the consequences. Still in their way, they change things, slowly, but they do. These are the ones that help us stay afloat. Those who accept to swim the earthly depth of the human pool to stop us for drowning.

To those, this post is dedicated.

It ain't me, Lorraine, to whom your interesting post is dediated. But I'd like to answer (after some long time of thinking about it):

Probabely everyone has at least one drawer. Sometimes, the one he was put in, is the one he built himself. And for sure: a multilayer-character could be a sort of big cupboard.

My idea: free people, let's use shelves!

;-)

Best wishes
Ralf

Wow, you do prose, too! And quite eloquent, I must say--I'm impressed with how you have thought these things out so clearly...
'Course Ralf takes it to a new dimension...!

I saw this over Michael's shoulder and said I just have to get to Lorraine's blog. With all that has been happening this past while I have been too busy being a rebel, dreamer, believer, and trying to be wise and let me tell you it is making me sick, tired resentful and trying to keep my head up so I don't drown.

This was great and I am glad I came!

Thanks so much Colette Amelia, I did everything I could until I couldn't, please please take care of yourself, you matter! and thanks so much for the visit!

I'm entranced by your blog Lorraine. I wandered here via Maxine's blog and it was a fortuitious wandering. I would like very much to put you on my blog roll, if that is okay with you. As for this post in particular, I couldn't help thinking how cyclical the list is and that ideally each age has it's own personality. Youth/the rebel, the working years/the believers, middle age/the dreamers and if it's in the plan to be old, we should become the wise ones. If you take it deeper, these stages could be soul development as well rather than a chronological earthly aging only. Either way, it all goes round and round until there is no need to return. Very fascinating idea to propose.
Your photography is very vibrant also Lorraine. Thank you for a wonderful read and feast for my eyes.
