Beautiful photo, Lorraine :)
Not all are kinder as they grow, harsh realities of life many a times make many unkind....though I wish otherwise,

But yes, those who have 'known' God's love will never have to go back to re-create the charm....though memories are always something to relish :)

love,
dev

there is a ring to itthe closer wedrawn to our mortality that wehopefully begin to understand it is not about us, but those we touch. having touched none we walk off the stage rather empty. there is a certain pining for the simpleness of yesterdays gone by, but then there was no internet and i never would have met you..smiles.

Indeed we seem often to be stuck in the past...yet some of those memories are so exquisite...

Well, this picture is charming! Love the feel of the sign in the background with the gorgeous flowers and the ironwork.

Perhaps some of us are kinder--I hope so, and it's a good goal to strive for, but the world as a whole--I'm not so sure--it's so easy to imagine it was kinder then, especially when we see the beautiful artifacts left behind by craftspeople who had more time to give to their art, not so rushed to make profits!

Why are we nostalgic? Because happiness is often something we realize AFTER THE FACT--resulting in our fondness for the "good ol' days." Why is it we seldom think we're happy RIGHT NOW?

*ideally* people grow kinder as they grow older, but some people are just foul-tempered and cranky and get worse with age.
but we can all at least *try* to be better.

In spite of all that has been, and is.. I think we spend more time contemplating.. about that which "could have been".. If only some of us lived in the presence, in "today"..
