"And Quiet Flows the Don" -- I was reminded of that novel by Mikhail Sholokhov
Fierce river is one of our most dreadful times back in our village -- never a dream for us, we hold breaths and pray....it took the life of nine school children last monsoon...but that was a boat accident,
Nice photo...and the metaphor; it gives a strenth, and sometimes reminds the insignifcance of our lives..i've felt so looking at the fierce rivers :)
Lorraine, you take some amazing shots - the layering of the colors here is amazing. The river always reminds me of the human spirit - ever changing, ever moving...

I am beginning to sense some peace here.
This river would look great in summer but somehow I suspect it was not summer as it was captured.
The faster and more fierce the river the more soothing it is to be near.
Oh Dev that is horrible...so stange that water gives so many gifts and yet takes so much, I'm very sorry
oh yes, that's brilliant Talon :)
and as always, lovely Doug :)
