Animals aren't born
for confinement
They are meant
To run free
Life in the blood
Roaming the air

Instead we cage them to death
No harm intended
But Nature knows balance

In our cage
we never roar

This post brings mixed reactions, Lorraine :)

I think man was also not made for confinement - a historical mistake -- And let me tell you - i have worked under one Head of Projects, who would scream and roar in his glass cabin - the whole office would tremble -- it was all done in glass/aluminiun structure - And at the project site, he would be as soft as a white meeky cat...a crank case :)

i am not sure by nature we are meant to scream and roar-- but a cage could get us there!

As Maya Angelou says in 'I know why the caged birds sings' --

"But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom. "

find the whole poem here http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-know-why-the-caged-bird-sings/

why Angelou spoke of a he-bird's freedom and not about a she-bird's is something that needs further thought --

That's one long comment :)

nice...i agree on the animals...i hate to see them confined...i am glad for those zoos that rehab animals or take care of those that cant...i also like the turn to personal at the end...we do tend to find ourselves confined often...
